How to Boost Energy by Juicing: Top 5 Ingredients

There are a variety of products on the market that claim to be energy enhancing. Instead of trying to convince yourself that these products work, and throwing away your money, you should simply look to your diet first. If you are a juicer, you know that there are many amazing, beneficial ingredients that you’ve come across while juicing. You’ve probably tried things you’ve never dreamed of trying and found that you like, and also dislike, many. You have probably purchased vegetables and fruits you’ve never heard of in order to boost energy levels, and have been more adventurous in the kitchen than you ever thought you could be.

With so many different fruits and vegetables, the combination possibilities for juicing are endless. A quick google or Pinterest search will provide you thousands of different juicing recipes to try. While we have many favorite recipes (we’ll save those for another day), we want to share with you our top 5 favorite ingredients that will actually enhance your energy level. These are in no particular order, and are just a handful of our favorite ingredients that we try to incorporate in as many drinks as possible when juicing.

Boost Your Energy with These 5 Amazing Juicing Ingredients

Ginger

Ginger is great for the digestive system, and boosts the immune system. It also enhances the function of your circulatory system, which typically results in a boost in energy.  Ginger is a powerful anti-inflammatory and a natural pain reliever for chronic pain conditions like arthritis. Ginger is even beneficial for the common cold or headache.

Spinach

Spinach is high in iron, which is key in producing energy in our bodies. It is also high in niacin and zinc as well as protein, potassium and fiber. Spinach is filled with vitamins C and E, but also vitamin K, which can help maintain a healthy nervous system. It is an excellent source of manganese, which can keep blood sugar levels steady and healthy. Consuming spinach at lunch is a great way to avoid that afternoon energy crash.

Blueberries

Blueberries are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. They can improve healthy heart function, reduce cholesterol, fight obesity, boost liver defense, and even protect brain cells and increase memory function.  Blueberries are a fruit that are low on the glycemic index so they won’t give you intense blood sugar spikes like some fruits will.

Kale

Kale is an MVP in the juicing world. This dark green leafy vegetable has strong cancer fighting abilities, and is packed with calcium, iron, and vitamin K. Kale is also known for  the antioxidant Lutein, which promotes healthy eyes. Kale increases heart health and muscle growth, among many other tremendous attributes. Kale contains L-tyrosine, which is an amino acid known for its ability to naturally boost energy levels.

Apple

Apples are awesome- not only do they taste great, but they, similar to blueberries, are a low glycemic fruit which helps control blood sugar levels. They also help with digestive health and are thought to be useful in fighting several cancers due to their polyphenols (found in the peel of the apple). Apples are high in vitamins A and C and carry a significant amount of carbohydrates and fiber which means you will stay more energized and feel full, longer.

As you can see, the above 5 ingredients are powerhouses in the juicing world (or in the health field in general). On top of increasing your energy level, these ingredients are chocked full of other fantastic vitamins, antioxidants, and healing elements.

You really can’t go wrong when including these in your daily juicing recipes.

Try a few out and get a feel for how your body responds. If you feel a boost in energy, continue on with those ingredients as often as you can. Now, get off the couch and get some juice!
